8 Food Trucks Worth Standing In Line For

One of our favorite rites of summer is the lunchtime food truck. They appear, seemingly out of nowhere, after a long winter hibernation. Wafting drool-inducing scents into the air, they roam the city streets with their smorgasbords of deliciousness.

And like summer, they’re here for a limited time only.

Read on for eight of our favorite food trucks.

El Guapo – Fresh Mexican Grill

El Guapo pioneered Detroit’s food truck movement when it became the first fully licensed truck on the scene back in 2011. And it remains one of the tastiest roaming kitchens out there.

We’re big fans of their Korean beef tacos with Asian slaw, and their spicy shrimp tacos topped with onions, guacamole, slaw, and cilantro. But it’s hard to pass up the pork belly confit tacos, topped with guapo sauce and slaw.

Let’s talk about the guapo sauce for a minute, because it turns up on the menu frequently and first timers often aren’t sure what to make of it. The sauce has a creamy texture, faint orangey-pink hue, and a flavor that smacks of chile peppers (which, sadly, we have been unable to replicate at home). It provides a wonderful flavor kick to everything it touches.

Don’t forget a glass of their famous jalapeno lime-ade to wash it all down.
